![]() On Sunday, November 11, 2007, the City of Irwindale honored those who have served and are serving in the United States Armed Forces during a special Veterans Day Ceremony. The California Amvets State Honor Guard was present in full dress uniform to dignify the ceremony with the presentation and retirement of the colors, while Mrs. Loretta Corpis led the audience in the singing of our National Anthem. As our country loses the voice of World War II Veterans with their passing, the City was honored to have three decorated WWII Veterans from Irwindale as guest speakers; Mr. Tony Cruz Aguilera, Mr. Gilbert Lopez, and Mr. David F. Martinez. In their own words, these soldiers took the audience into the battlefield with stories of their missions, enduring trials and eventual victory for their country. Concluding the ceremony, Bobby Loya solemnly played “Taps” in honor of those Veterans who had passed. There was not a dry eye in the audience. View photos of the ceremony. You will be required to sign up as a guest prior to viewing the photos and/or purchasing photos. Photographed by Steven Castro, Eagle Photography View the ceremony program.
